Lauren Rapp, MSW, LSW

Many times, people on their parenting journey do so much holding that they need a space to be held, too. I enjoy working with parents or soon-to-be parents that have experienced their own trauma, or are coping with new diagnoses for themselves or their children. As a trained perinatal mental health provider, I have extensive experience in working with people in their pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting phases of life. In particular, I specialize in working with infants/toddlers/children, adolescents, and adults that have experienced attachment, sensory, medical, and societal trauma.

With being a psychodynamic clinician, I engage with patients to explore past wounds, usually from their childhood, and connect them to present struggles. Because of my extensive work with children and families, I have a deep understanding of attachment in relationships, as well as supporting patients in creating boundaries. I believe emotions and experiences are stored within the body, so they need to be recognized and expressed through the body. When patients find it too difficult to use their words, we can use creative art methods. With children, we can use a play-based and child-centered approach, involving caregivers in the therapeutic process, in order to increase attachment and regulation.

I also enjoy working with neurodivergent populations, and recognize that each individual has a unique nervous system with particular sensory needs that have to be honored. Lastly, I am committed to serving historically marginalized communities, such as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+, and exploring their identities and the societal injustices placed upon them. I am a strong advocate and continually reflect on my practices in being a culturally-sensitive therapist.

Based on compassion, curiosity, and collaboration, I value creating a safe and authentic space for us to develop a therapeutic relationship. I’m passionate about partnering with you to identify the root causes of your pain and discomfort utilizing strategies and techniques that help you get in touch with your inner self in order to feel empowered and move forward with hope. I’m dedicated to offering you a brave space to acknowledge your emotions, process life events, and work through various factors so you can continue on your path towards growth and discovery.

I’m here to walk with you through this journey you are on. Please feel free to contact me for a complimentary in-person, phone, or video consultation to find out if we would be an ideal match, as well as if you have any additional questions for me.
